The sunrise before the rain…yes! rain!

We managed to sneak out twice this last week for sunrise. I took too many pics for one post, so I’ll break it down. I’ve got sunrise pics, birdie pics along with a bunch of duck butts. Today will just be the first sunrise morning. I took my Canon and Lastech used his phone. It’s fun to see the drastic differences in photos. The Canon grabbed the reds and oranges, while the phone accented the blues and more delicate hues. I love both.

For our Tuesday morning trek, we went down to China Basin to the pier right next to AT&T Park. We hadn’t gone there for photos before, so it was all new to us. We had driven past, but never had the opportunity to stop. Of course, we avoid that area during baseball season as it’s a traffic nightmare. It was beautiful that morning.

I’m going to mix the photos up, but I’ll mark mine and Lastech’s. You will see the difference though.

As for the rain, we have it. It’s very windy as well, so there are trees falling all over the place. There are power outages everywhere. I won’t complain. We need the rain too desperately.

Caturday: Blurry days

Happy Caturday everyone! This has been an interesting week to say the least. It has flown by so fast that it was as blurry as our kitty pics.

Our lovely city managed to make the national headlines with the story of the torso in the suitcase discovery. Aside from the torso, they found a leg in a trash bin down the street. Where this was found was not in a quiet area. It’s a major bus hub. On a better note, I’m grateful for security cameras. They were able to release photos of a man with the suitcase. A couple of hours after that, he was arrested. Oddly enough, I was living in South Florida within a mile of where the suitcase killer was dropping bodies.

Now, on a much happier note, an extremely rare Sierra Nevada red fox has been photographed in Yosemite. I hope this is a good sign.

Now after all the odd news, it’s time for the pointy eared people. Yes, blurry is the word today. I always try to pick the best pics. Not today. This is what we get 98% of the time.

As for Lastech and I, we’re rapidly becoming fans of the Tiny House movement. This is a tour of the home we like. I would prefer a slightly different floor plan though. I also would not take up space with a washer/dryer. This is our dream home, which is subject to change. For now, we may have to settle for a travel trailer. Either way, we will wind up with a home that we can take with us when we want to move. πŸ™‚

Caturday: Nervous kitties and plumbers with torches

The kitties are nervous anyway and the other day it got worse. On Thursday, I got a call that we had a leak that was running into the nail salon downstairs. I told them to send the plumber and I located the source of the problem. It was under the sink in the wall. It wasn’t running out on my floor so I hadn’t noticed it. Anyhow, it involved a plumber and a torch. The kitties were nervous and I was was worse. The explosion and gas leak down the street in 2012 was caused by a plumber and a torch. I never found out whether or not the plumber survived. The huge fire in New Jersey this last week was caused by a plumber and a torch. Every 20 minutes I felt the wall where the repair was done to make sure it was cool. Yep, I was paranoid

As I’m here typing, it’s evident that all turned out well, but I wasn’t a happy camper. The pointy eared people recovered before I did. πŸ™‚

Now it’s time for the pointy eared people to shine

Have you heard of "resting bitch face"? Well, this is Titanescu's version. It's his "resting stink eye". He really doesn't have to practice at all. It's just always there. :)

This is why we will never have a door stopper. Titan and Jenny would do this.

Caturday: Smoggy skies and furballs

The wind is blowing in from the interior and bringing smoggy skies with it. Blech! Thank goodness for my inhaler. In the meantime, we are without rain. This is on track to be the driest January in years. Stupid drought. No storms for us in the near future either. πŸ™

Since it’s Caturday, it’s time for the pointy eared people to shine.

Caturday: Blanket forts and lazy beasts

This has been a rather awful week in the news. Planes and Journalists have not fared well. Our condolences to all. πŸ™

In other news, the Golden Gate Bridge is closed until Monday morning. It’s sad for the tourists and a pain in the posterior for commuters, but it’s needed. They’re installing a moveable median barrier to separate the north and southbound lanes. The barrier is needed to prevent head on collisions. There have been many and with more and more people driving while using cell phones, it’s even more necessary. It’s the first closure in more than 25 years and the longest closure in bridge history.

Last week it was boxes. This week it’s blanket forts. If we’re on the bed watching tv or reading, soon will come a paw digging at the blankets. They don’t care if we’re in the middle of a heatwave. They want UNDER the blanket.

And now here’s a beautiful and sweet story about a boy and his dog. It’s a two-hanky story at the very least, but it will leave you smiling.

Caturday: Box cats and a birthday

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Before we get to the pointy eared people, we want to wish our friend Miyuki a very happy birthday. She has a great blog called Nekoneko’s Movie Litterbox where she reviews horror films from around the world. If you enjoy horror films, her blog is the best.

Box Catgirl

Now it’s time for the pointy eared people to shine. Earlier in December, I received a nice sized box. I haven’t the heart to take it away from them, so it remains. They play in it and shred it too. The “artsy” effect is what happens when I need pics and none are particularly good. Actually, the original pic of Titan was great. I just tweaked it to fit with the others. πŸ™‚

Caturday: holiday creepiness

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season. Ours was nice and quiet. I finally got a post up about our whale watching adventure and it’s just below this post on the front page. Or you can get to it here.

These pics of the pointy eared people are a tad creepy. In fact we both thought of the Brothers QuayΒ when we saw Titan’s photo.

Beyond the Golden Gate: the Kitty Kat’s whale watching adventure

Rudha-an here with a bit of a description of the weather and sea conditions. One large storm had ended the day before and another very large storm was due the next day. The sky was mostly clear but we were dealing with 15 foot swells the entire time we were out. This made photography difficult and downright impossible at times. While we did not manage any whale pics due to distance, we got plenty of other pics.

This was our whale watching boat. It was aptly named.

Follow along as Lastech tells you about our day.

Caturday: Tis the season

We’re still working on a whale watching post. However, Lastech has been working overtime and our schedule has been a tad screwball. It’s still coming though.

In the meantime, here are the pointy eared people. I dressed up the pics for the season.

While I don’t have my whale watching pics ready, I did managed to get a pic of a rare sighting. California quails are plentiful everywhere BUT in the city. For the second time in 12 years, I spotted a quail in Golden Gate Park.

Such a fat little quail he is. I hope he has a girlfriend somewhere.

Caturday was delayed, but now it’s here

Late is better than not at all. Lastech and I managed to go on our whale watching outing yesterday. It was beautiful and wonderful. I’ll didn’t get all the pics I wanted due to 15 foot swells that made it difficult and we have no whale pics, but that’s ok. We got to see them and we’re happy. The boat stayed a very respectful and safe distance away. We were very lucky. I will have some pics to post and stories to tell, though it will have to wait until after jury duty. I have to go to the courthouse tomorrow.

In the meantime, here are the pointy eared people
