We got to see the Space Shuttle Endeavor!

I remember when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon in 1969. Our TV had died and we had to run to a friend’s house to watch it. I remember the first shuttle launch in 1981. I was watching when we lost the Challenger and now I’ve seen Endeavor airborne for the last time. Endeavor was riding atop a 747, and they did a slow flyover of the Golden Gate Bridge. It was magnificent.

These photos aren’t perfect, but I don’t care. I was there and I got to see it! Lastech deserves extra thanks for the trip to see it. He didn’t get near enough sleep and had to go to work this afternoon. I married a heckuva guy.

  1. it is thrilling to see this. i remember the time it buzzed downtown san antonio, wow, that was great. so happy you got to see and photograph this!

    • I’ve been allowed (by luck and by design) to see a few interesting bits of history. I remember mom and I were on our way to San Diego for a Dr visit. She whipped off the freeway and we raced to a mall in El Cajon to watch Nixon give his resignation speech. It was the TV department in Sears. My folks made sure that I was aware that some things are too important to miss or ignore. This was one of them. I’m very glad that Lastech was able to take me to see it.
