Rosy Monday

We should all take time to smell the roses. However, until computers come in scratch ‘n sniff, we’ll have to make due with a few photos. We went to Golden Gate Park early, as usual, so we had to play “dodge the sprinklers”. It’s worth it though as the park is quiet at that time.

Here are my favorite pics from that trip. I have named the roses where I could.

  1. Oooh, roses! I’m sad I never really got to appreciate all the Portland rose gardens while I was out there. I was too busy being miserable and depressed. 😉

I need to wander Fairmount Park this weekend. Great pics as always!

      1. Wow, no I didn’t see that. Sorry to hear that. The 5-alarm Buck Hosiery fire in April, which killed two Philadelphia firefighters, was a few blocks down the street from me, but I didn’t know about it until the next morning. I couldn’t imagine being awake and home and trying to figure out what to do in that event. And not to mention running into the building (the two firefighters were killed in an adjacent building, when the wall collapsed on them, as they were trying to stop the flames from spreading into a neighboring furniture store under the El) to put those flames out…

        1. Wow. I’m sorry that you lost firefighters too. It’s awful. That was a very interesting article. Maybe this will make the city rethink the way it does things. I won’t hold my breath, but it could happen.

We recently got our N.E.R.T. (Neighborhood Emergency Response Team) training by the fire department. It gave me an all new perspective on what they have to do during a disaster.
