If any of you are familiar with Shirley Jackson’s book The Haunting of Hill House, or the 1963 movie The Haunting, you’ll know what I’m referring to. The constant hammering from 7 am to 8 pm every day is awful. Hill House would be much more quiet by comparison. The pointy eared people have PTSD and we’re not far behind.
In light of all that, this their time to shine. This week, I decided to give them an artful tweak.
Here’s the construction update.
So that I don’t end this on a sour note, he’s a mega dose of “Squee” from the ever wonderful Ze Frank. I can live with the fact that it’s a Friskies ad.
poor sweet dears and their humans. the rocks in Eleanor’s life only lasted three days … it’s been so much longer for you, your spouse, your jellybean toed ones and anything more is no poltergeist type event, this is purely human and much more maddening. i hope for all of you and have incense for you all day and night when i’m home. i want peace and love for you all. please contact me if you need to anytime day or night, i’m here for any of you. you’ve endured what would drive anyone to drastic measures yet you maintain your humor and love. i admire you all.
Thank you Labby. We’ll survive the noise. I’m working hard at maintaining my sense of humor. Sometimes it’s easier said than done. 🙂
Jackson lived in San Francisco, died there too as i recall (correct me if i’m wrong on the death) Hill House had to be somewhere in the northeast though, i’m thinking NY. any thoughts from you on that?
She was born here but lived in Burlingame, which is 12 miles south of the city. Later, she lived in Vermont. I don’t think she ever indicated exactly where Hill House was located. My best guess is upstate NY or Mass. None of the towns or roads exist together in one state. The exterior shots of the house in the movie were done at Harlaxton Manor in England. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlaxton_Manor
