Seagulls: A preteen nightmare

A while back we went for a walk around Pier 39. Oddly enough, it was to check on the gulls and possibly catch a sunset. The gulls were more entertaining with plenty (too many?) of offspring this year and I wanted to see them before they left the nest for good. I missed out on the little ones, but these were pretty darned funny.

The last two pics were taken on a different day. They may not have been the gull in the other pics, but they are from the same season.

  1. Hahahaha!! Seagull can be so hilarious at times… mostly when they aren’t being gross lil’ skyrats. 😉

We have a fairly large flock that roam our downtown square here and occasionally gather out back of our restaurant in the alley by the dumpster. By day they pretty much rule things there and woe be it to our dishwasher or maintenance man if they presume to disturb them. We’ve tried shooing them away, but with no real success. Doesn’t seem fair that we have them about so darn far away from the ocean….

    1. Ah yes, they do love to defend their dumpster diving. They can be a royal pain in the hiney. Still, they’re fun to watch. Shooing them away won’t work. It’s like trying to get rid of pigeons. BTW, I love the gulls in “Finding Nemo”. The animators did a perfect job with them.
