In keeping with JBoD’s current aquatic themes, this Friday is dedicated to fishies. Ok, it’s koi.
I’ve posted about the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park, but I haven’t really highlighted the koi. And they deserve the spotlight. After all, they’re beautiful and plentiful.
Koi have been bred in Japan since around 1820 and the Japanese word for them is nishikigoi (brocaded carp). They come in a wide variety of colors and can live for more than 40 years.
Now I’ll shut up and let these beauties speak for themselves.

Beautiful photos you two. I’ve never seen such pretty koi before. Such great colors.
Thank you. I really love their colors too.
