Tennessee Valley, a Cove and a Shipwreck

Last week we took a lovely hike through Tennessee Valley. It is located North of San Francisco in Marin County. The valley and cove are named after the Steamship Tennessee who ran aground there in 1853. Remnants of the ship can still be seen at low tide.

Tennessee Valley is a beautiful place to visit. It is full of wildlife and you can find plenty of birds. The hike is a fairly easy one and it’s 1.7 miles from the parking lot to the cove. If you visit, try to go at low tide. The shipwreck may be visible and the beach is pretty. The water is very dangerous though. There are very strong riptides, so even wading is highly discouraged.
