There is a new addition to the JBoD household. Recently, we found ourselves looking at our local shelters online. We weren’t in a hurry, but we wanted a rescue kitty. Last weekend, Lastech found one. His name was Titan and his picture showed him sporting a pair of bat wings. It was adorable.
Yesterday, we went to visit him. He’s ten years old and, born without a tail, he sports a very cute little nubbin instead. Β π From what we know of his story, he was adopted and returned to the shelter twice. The second time, it appears that he wasn’t introduced to the household properly and he was scared and hiding most of the time. Poor baby. We’ll take our time and introduce him slowly. We have a safe room all set up. There’s a futon, so Lastech and I can take turns staying with him. He and the other kitties can sniff at each other with a door between them for a while.
These are pics I took at the shelter when we met him.
These pics were all taken yesterday.
Oh yes, about Tito and Miss Jenny? Well, we came home with the smell of strange cat on our persons. Tito and Miss Jenny were not amused.
Today we brought him home. He’s currently hiding under the futon and I figure he’s nervous enough without me chasing him around with the camera. I’ll let him settle a bit before I do that. I would do anything if I could remove the trauma that any animal feels when they meet a new environment. All I can do is be patient and quiet. π He’s worth it.
Welcome to JBoD Titan!
Ooooohhh!! A new kitty!
It’s nice to see you guys making room for such an older cat, but I’ll bet the rest of the gang will take some convincing to go with it. The intricacies of Cat Politics can be soooo mysterious….. π
Happy Gotcha Day TitanβLove the single white whisker!
Perhaps ur new mom should try giving you all a little Rescue Remedy to help ease your introductions.
Well shucks, I may have to try the rescue remedy. LOL Tito and Miss Jenny are fine so far. Titan is finally sitting on the futon, but he’s growling and hissing at the door of the safe room. It’s ok. We actually expected this. We’ll take all the time Titan needs to get adjusted. π
he’s going to be so happy with a new and always home. you understand the patience he needs and he’ll soon come to understand that he’s now safe. it will take time. he may always be somewhat skittish and growly, but he’ll adjust once he knows this is his place. you are such a great kitteh family!
He’s adorable and I love the white whisker. That picture of Tito and Miss Jenny giving you the stink-eye is priceless! Before too long, they will all be sleeping in a pile just like they used to with Kitsy. Congratulations, Titan – you found yourself a great home!
He really is a cutie. He’s a small guy and doesn’t weigh much. I think it’s almost time for he and Tito to do some nose sniffing. We’ll try that tomorrow evening. As for Miss Jenny, that will be hit and miss. She avoids us if we’re on our feet, so introducing her will pretty much happen when we let Titan loose in the rest of the apartment. π
